Who Killed Emily?
| Emily
may be gone, but she's certainly not forgotten, as the residents of Port
Charles pay their last respects this week on GH. More importantly, there's
the pesky question of who murdered the beautiful heiress that's yet to be
answered. Accusations fly, family members turn on one another, and
before all is said and done, the police will make a shocking arrest! Farewell My love: As the week begins, Nikolas reels from the shock of Emily's death, even going so far as to put a gun to his own head as he considers joining his murdered lover in the great beyond. "His first instinct is that he had something to do with this," admits Tyler Christopher. And while Mac assumes that Anthony is the killer, it soon becomes obvious that Jason suspects someone much more shocking: Nikolas! "With documented fits of rage, Nikolas is certainly the first suspect," says his portrayer. Refusing to leave the side of his slain love, a dazed Nikolas does his best to answer questions put to him by the police. But when the forensic team arrives to remove the body, the Cassadine heir comes very close to losing it. Liz and Sam help talk Nikolas down, but this should not be seen as a bonding moment between the gals. In fact, moments later, the two get into another verbal altercation about the still missing Lucky! Monica Lashes Out The unfortunate task of telling Monica the news of her daughter's death falls to Jason, who says that Em was strangled by Zacchara. Devastated, Monica blames Jason's violent lifestyle for causing the death of his sister, then not only disowns her son but orders him not to attend Emily's funeral. "When she tells me that, what can I say?" asks Steve Burton (in character). 'You're wrong - no, it's not me', "because it is me, indirectly. It's probably one of the toughest things Jason has ever had to do." Meanwhile, back at Wyndemere, Nikolas sits alone in the ballroom, refusing even to eat. Hoping to help, Lesley comes by with Spencer, but Nikolas is so caught up in his own misery, that he asks her to keep his son a while longer. "It's a realization of what he feared all alone," Says Christopher, "that this disease would ultimately take her out of his life." Lucky Returns By the time Lucky at long last resurfaces, he's got a great deal of catching up to do as he learns that his father has had a series of heart attacks and Emily is dead. Not surprisingly, he takes his rage out on Liz, only to later grow closer to Sam as he admits to having lost everything that matters to him. Jason, meanwhile tries get answers about Emily's death from Nikolas, who admits that his memory of the night is foggy at best. This doesn't exactly sit well with the police, who continue to eye Nikolas suspiciously. And it begins to appear they could be looking at the right guy when he has a terrifying dream in which he sees himself committing the heinous crime! Across town, Carly turns to Sonny for help in breaking the news of Emily's death to Michael and Morgan. Perhaps not surprisingly, Michael's first reaction upon hearing that Zacchara murdered Emily is to ask why his gun-toting dad didn't just kill the crazy man! Later, Jason turns to Sonny and asks him to visit Monica in the hope that she can be convinced to change her stance on his attending the funeral. Instead, Monica tears into Sonny, blasting him for tearing apart her family and getting half of them killed. A Day of Mourning As the morning of Emily's funeral dawns, Nikolas prepares with help from Alexis, as well as Lucky and Liz, who put aside their own differences in order to support his brother. Monica, too, is there for Nikolas, offering kind words about just how much her daughter loved him. As for Jason, he remains torn as to whether he should attend, but Carly, Spinelli and Sonny convince their grieving friend that Emily would want him there. In private, Sonny confides to Kate about Monica's tongue-lashing, even admitting that her words were justified. Seeing Sonny's pain, Kate does her best to comfort the man she loves. As the service begins, Jason arrives but, out of respect for Monica's pain, remains hidden from her sight. Liz notices Jake's daddy, but doesn't reveal to anyone else that he is present as she delivers an emotional eulogy, which triggers a flood of memories in those gathered to mourn the beauty. A Shocking Arrest As the most frightening of circumstances lead Nikolas to fear for his very sanity, the police draw ever closer to discovering the truth about Emily's murder. And after a crucial piece of evidence is examined, the police arrive to arrest one of the men in Emily's life. But who will be hauled off for murder, and are they actually the guilty party? |
