Monica Lashes Out!
| The minute Jason walked
into the Quartermaine mansion and made eye contact with Monica, she knew
instinctively that something was very, very wrong. Jason slowly
stepped closer, "Emily died last night," he said quietly, leaving Monica
gasping. He looked down and stated the plain and simple facts.
"She was strangled early this morning at Wyndemere and Nikolas found her." As Monica's mind struggled to process what she was being told, refusing the truth of his words, Jason said that the prime suspect was Anthony Zacchara. And just that quickly, the pieces came together in the grieving mother's head. Jason denied having met Zacchara, yet Monica suspected that a connection still existed between the men. "Oh, but I'm sure he was anxious to meet you," she said, her rage slowly surfacing. "You know something? I spend every day with blood on my hands, trying to save a life. When was the last time you saved a life, Jason?" His eyes reddened as he stood there and allowed her to vent. Consumed with both guilt and grief, he tried to calm her and offered to get her someone to help. Who, Jason?" she shouted, her words having the impact of bullets. "They're all dead! AJ, Alan, who you were too busy killing to even go and say good-bye to! And, my God, now Emily?" She burst into tears of pain and anger. Jason apologized, but she began to beat on him and push him to the door. At first he resisted, then he gave in. "Get out of here. Get out! You are the only thing I have left and I don't want you! Get out. And don't you dare think about coming to her funeral, don't you dare show your face around here. You are not my son" Steve Burton and Leslie Charleson played the rage, guilt and devastation of their alter egos to the hilt, taking the often tenuous relationship in a new and emotionally devastating direction. |
