The cast of GH is so taken by a certain health drink that it was actually written into a storyline.  The episode that aired on June 20, 2008 had Jason (Steve Burton) sick with fever after being exposed to an Asian flu.  Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) promptly brought him an elixir made from a Brazilian nut mixed with the juice of several fruits.  At first Jason didn't want to drink it but after a sip, he had to admit that he felt better.  Hmmm, can you say "product placement?"

Debbie Morris, President of GH Fan Club, contacted Soaps.Com to talk about the product.  She reports that so many of the GH actors are now involved with the health drink that they joke about getting a dispenser at the studio.  In addition to Steve, Derk Cheetwood and Michael Saucedo, Natalia Livingston and Rick Hearst are now big supporters of it's benefits.

As Reported in April, 2008

We've seen young Jason Quartermaine on the road to a career in medicine and head-injured Jason Morgan take up the life of a mob enforcer but how about taking a look at Steve Burton's business life outside of his Emmy award winning acting on General Hospital?  Within the past year, Burton was introduced to a business that has turned into a true passion for him and his wife Sheree.  So much so in fact that he dedicates some of his time off camera to speaking on behalf of the business and mentoring potential associates.  The product?  A health drink that features the amazing so-called "crown jewel" Brazilian acai berry.

The berry widely recognized for it's antioxidant power is combined in a beverage with 18 other super fruits and taken in two two-ounce "tastings" per day.  Steve credits a GH makeup artist for introducing it to him and after trying it for a couple of weeks he and his wife both found that they were sleeping better and had more energy.  Prior to that, he admits to have been hooked on sugar free Red Bull but now proudly says it's the drink that gave him his energy.

Steve headed a conference call last night and I joined in so that I could find out more for his fans.  Steve told potential distributors that was tired of burping up fish oil pills.  Before becoming involved in the business, he shared the beverage with friends and family and reports that his wife's grandparents have been able to go off of their medication..  When asked about the beverage's ability to control appetite and curb hunger, Steve affirmed that those are some of the benefits, specifically the fact that with more energy, people can work out harder.  He mentioned that had a friend who shed about 70 pounds as a result of adding the drink to his diet.

On the call, Steve started to sound rather like Dr. Quartermaine-like as he fielded various questions about symptoms of diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, prostate enlargement, acid reflux and even anxiety that have been improved through the benefit of the acai berry drink.  "I can't believe why someone wouldn't want to take it after doing the research,"  he stated.  Being from Ohio, he says that he barely ate a banana growing up, but he is now joining the ranks of various professional athletes, NASCAR drivers and heads of corporations who enthuse about the product.

Steve added that, in addition to Georgia, (the GH makeup artist) two other cast mates are now involved with business as well.  They are Max's Derk Cheetwood and Michael Saucedo (Rebecca Herbst's husband).  "If this wasn't changing people's lives health wise, I truly wouldn't be involved at all" Steve told the people on the conference call.

I'm going to retire from acting in a year from this," he told listeners on the call.  Is it possible that he is doing so well with his new venture that this is true?  He touted the "health and wellness" industry as the new real estate when it comes to investing.  Time will tell, but in the meantime, Steve sounds happy and healthy and very "un-moblike" as he pursues his new passion.
