After the Accident

Jason tries to stop a drunken AJ from driving and jumps in the car with him. AJ hits a tree and Jason is knocked out and in a coma. He woke up from the coma on January 19, 1996 and will eventually call that date his birth date. He will later change his name from Jason Quartermaine to Jason Morgan , stating that Jason Quartermaine was dead. He took the last name of Morgan, as it was his grandmother's (Lila) maiden name.

Robin is talking to him when he wakes up. She asks him to squeeze her hand if he is hearing her. He does. Robin is thrilled but Jason does not know anyone and doesn't remember being Jason Q. He becomes angry as everyone keeps pushing him to remember them and doesn't want anyone's help. As he gets better all he wants to do is get out of the hospital.

Dr. Tony Jones explains to Jason that the type of brain damage that the accident caused is in the frontal lobe of his brain and he may never recover his memories as Jason Q. Jason can't walk at first but Tony says he will get stronger as he is in good physical shape.
